VARKAND beginner guide

VARKAND is a free browser MMORPG inspired by the classic Silk Road era. Open the game, create an account and choose a Chinese or European character. Use a recent browser with hardware acceleration enabled.

Chinese or European?

Chinese characters combine weapon skills with elemental masteries. Start by choosing a weapon style, then read the available skills before spending points. European characters choose a clearer party role: Warrior for close combat, Rogue for agile attacks, Wizard for magic damage, Warlock for curses, Bard for support, or Cleric for healing. Pick the role you enjoy rather than chasing a promised strongest build.

Your first 10 levels

1. Levels 1 to 3: Learn movement, camera controls, targeting and the hotbar near your starting town. Read the starting NPC conversations and accept available beginner quests.
2. Levels 4 to 6: Fight nearby enemies appropriate to your level. Check the quest journal for objectives. Equip suitable drops and read skill requirements before spending skill points.
3. Levels 7 to 10: Return to town to turn in completed quests, restock recovery items and repair gear. Try a party, and keep stronger enemies for later. Some NPC quests may not yet be available.

On phone or tablet, learn the touch controls before leaving town. Your first visit downloads browser assets, so give loading time to finish. Sign in to the same account when you return.

Trader, hunter or thief?

Jobs add risk to the caravan routes. Traders move goods between towns. Hunters protect traders and their cargo. Thieves try to intercept that cargo. Learn ordinary combat and the current job rules before starting a trade run; the first 10 levels are for learning, not a promise that every job is unlocked.
